His Holiness of the Sakya (the 41st) expresses his wish for the complete establishment of International Phags-pa Exo-esoteric Buddhist Academy. (Now: Taiwan Sakya Monastery):
I’m happy to explain to you that through the initiative to start the Phags-pa College here in Taiwan. I think this is very important because people of Taiwan are very eager to follow the Buddha Dharma.
The Buddha Dharma is the source of all the benefit and happiness to all beings, and the Buddha Dharma is actually have to practice through the base on sound moral conduct. Then studying, contemplation and meditation. And this generally is the source of all the benefits and happiness to all beings. And this general structure is common in all traditions.
And so the first step is to learn Dharma. Without learning Dharma, then one could not do the contemplation and meditation. Without this, of course, it is difficult to accomplish any concrete result. And so therefore it is very important to study the profound meanings of the Vast Sutra and the commentaries. Through which we can remove the darkness of the ignorance and enjoy the wealth of knowledge and through which then we will have the clear way to do the contemplation and meditation. And so through the meditation one could train the mind in such a way that it could eliminate all the negative emotions or the defilements which will be permanently eliminated. And through which then one could accomplish the liberation and enlightenment.
And so therefore for such a Dharma studying program is very important to generally whole people and particularly the people of Taiwan who are very eager to follow the Buddha Dharma and who have a great faith and devotion in the Buddha Dharma. So on this project I wish complete success in your endeavor. Thank you.
The precious image of the Guan Yin Shan superior patriarch, Chogye Trichen Rinpoche, praising the Great Holiness Phags-pa:
The Great Holiness Pasipa is very superior, being able to recite the Compendium of Sadhanas at the age of three. The public found it remarkable and respectfully referred to Him as Paba (an extremely superior person).
Spiritual guide─Venerable Khenchen Appey Rinpoche, imparts prayers and blessings for the establishment of the Phags-pa Buddhist Academy:
In order to widely propagate the righteous Dharma in the world, Rinpoche believed that it was essential to start by cultivating talents in Buddhism and promoting Buddhist education. Khenpo Appey Rinpoche’s great courage in propagating the Dharma, after going through various tests and trials, Rinpoche continued to make a great compassionate wish to establish a Phags-pa Buddhist Academy in Taiwan.
Regarding the establishment of the Phags-pa Buddhist Academy in Taiwan, Khenpo Appey Rinpoche expressed high affirmation and expectation. Rinpoche constantly reflected that education was an urgent and significant matter. In daily practices, Rinpoche always dedicated merits to the Four Classes of Disciples and all sentient beings, earnestly praying for the smooth realization of various conditions through the blessings of the Three Jewels.
I have visited your center, and it is excellent. The construction of the Buddhist association is well done, and the fellow practitioners are outstanding. During the celebration of the Shakyamuni Buddha’s birthday, I went to the Buddhist association in Taichung to hold the Bathing the Buddha Festival ritual-practicing Dharma assembly. During the gathering, we discussed the Phags-pa Buddhist Academy, which is an auspicious matter.
Currently, I am in Kathmandu, not in Taiwan. However, if there is any need for the Phags-pa Buddhist Academy in Taiwan, I will do my best to assist. This is not only the matter of Gongkar Rinpoche (Guru Lung Du) or my personal matter; it is a significant matter for the Buddha Dharma and brings immense benefits to the people of Taiwan.
I had previously written an authorization letter to Taiwan regarding the establishment of the Phags-pa Buddhist Academy in Taiwan, outlining all the issues. After the Buddhist academy is established, I will carefully arrange suitable faculty. I trust Gongkar Rinpoche (Guru Lung Du), and Gongkar Rinpoche (Guru Lung Du) also trusts me. With this mutual trust, we can have a very good Buddhist academy.
In August 2020, the 26th Lineage Throne Holder Chogye Trichen Rinpoche offered blessings to Taiwan Sakya Monastery and Vajrayana Guru Chokyi Gyetshen:
I immensely rejoice towards Vajra Master Chokyi Gyetshen of Taiwan Sakya Monastery. To care and benefit sentient beings in Taiwan, he overcame various hardships to construct Taiwan Sakya Monastery. I rejoice with all volunteers and supporters whom assisted in the building of the monastery. I wish for the swift success in the construction and boundless joy in the propagation of dharma!
From dharma’s perspective, the creation of an environment for learning and practise of dharma is of tremendous importance. If we do not possess such an environment, it would be akin to being trapped in darkness, where one would not be able to liberate from darkness. This means that we are not able to be liberated from sufferings. For a patient who wishes to receive treatment, he has to rely upon hospitals with adequate medical facilities and doctors. If we possess such conditions, we would be able to receive treatment. If we do not possess such conditions, we would not be able to receive treatment.
We are all very much aware of the current pandemic of covid, there are places without adequate hospitals, doctors and medical facilities, causing patients to not be able to receive treatment, resulting in the death of many. Towards patients, these medical facilities, doctors and hospitals are of paramount importance.
Similarly, to us and all sentient beings who are suffering in the depths of samsara, the environment to which we learn and practise Buddhadharma. For instance, monasteries, dharma institutes, teachers, especially those who teaches dharma are of paramount importance, and none of these conditions should be lacking. With these conditions, we will have the opportunity to learn and practise the Buddhadharma. We will then be able to transform our behaviour and transform our minds. Therefore, to us, if we wish to be free from sufferings, therefore, the conditions as mentioned before should not be lacking, thus it’s importance.
Therefore, I hereby wish our Taiwan’s Sakya Monastery, Vajra Master Chokyi Gyetshen, I wish that all his dharma activities prevades thru space, benefitting countless sentient beings. Thank you!
I extend my greetings from Bhutan to all Buddhists in Taiwan. I’m glad to see any here that Vajrayana teachings and practices are gradually gaining popularity among practitioners worldwide. And it is a good sign for the Buddha, Dharma and Sangha to pursue.
I really rejoice that Vajrayana Guru Chokyi Gyetshen in Taiwan has made many contributions to the teachings and propagation of the Buddha Dharma over the years. And now he has also built “Taiwan Sakya Monastery”, creating a new milestone in the propagation of the Dharma in Taiwan.
Today, I take this privilege to offer my respect and appreciation to Lung Du Yung Jing Rinpoche (Vajrayana Guru Chokyi Gyetshen) for his dedicated service for the welfare of Dharma and beings. He is also a practitioner of the Great Perfection. And I would like to urge all Buddhists in Taiwan to embrace the Buddha teachings and practices irrespective of belonging to different traditions. May the Buddha Dharma bring peace in Taiwan and worldwide. Tashi Delek !
His Holiness Chetsang Ardently blessed Taiwan Sakya Monastery and Lung Du Yung Jing Rinpoche in 2020:
I am really glad to see you coming here. The disciples of Taiwan Guan Yin Shan Lung Du Rinpoche, the disciples of Vajrayana Guru Rinpoche, I am absolutely delighted to see that your monastery has been completed, and first I wish your monastery a smooth completion.
And here I am near His Holiness Sakya Trizin in Dehradun, India. We often intercommunicate with each other.
Venerable Khenchen Appey Rinpoche is also my guru, and I received the lineage of Hevajra Tantra from my guru before, and thus I am really delighted to see the construction of “Taiwan Sakya Monastery” that can propagate the Dharma and benefit many people. I hereby give you my genuine blessing.
I believe that this monastery will surely benefit many sentient beings, and I hope that the Vajrayana Guru Chokyi Gyetshen will be long-lived and benefit many sentient beings. May everyone be full of Dharma joy. Amitabha!

I was requested by Vajrayana Guru Chokyi Gyetshen to record a blessing video for Taiwan Sakya Monastery. I’m extremely happy and honor to be able to do this. First of all, I want to offer my heartfelt congratulations for the completion of the new monastery, which as you said is the compassionate wish of the late, Most Venerable Khenchen Appey Rinpoche. Since there is a close association between Taiwan Sakya Monastery and the International Buddhist Academy, due to having the late Khenchen Appey Rinpoche as our teacher, I particularly feel a close affiliation with the Taiwan Sakya Monastery.
The hardship and difficulties endured by you to achieve the milestone of completing the monastery demonstrates your profound dedication and compassion in realizing this magnificent outcome. The great Indian master Vasubandhu said the Noble Dharma of Buddha is twofold: scriptural teachings and realization. The upholding of these is comprised of only teaching them and practicing them in meditation. I have no doubt with your confidence, capabilities and resolute mind of propagating Dharma in general and Vajrayana in particular. These activities mentioned by master Vasubandhu will take place in this new monastery. In this way, you will also be fulfilling the noble wishes of Khenchen Appey Rinpoche.
In brief, I wish to offer my prayers and blessings to the Taiwan Sakya Monastery for it to bring great blessings and benefit to many beings. May the blessings of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas always be with you. Thank you.

Respected Vajrayana Guru Chokyi Gyetshen Rinpoche, and all Sangha members and my dear Dharma brothers and sisters, I am sending my heartfelt greetings to you all from Nepal. So, I’m sending this message for the very auspicious occasion of the Opening Ceremony of the first academic year of International Phags-pa Exo-esoteric Buddhist Academy in Taichung, Taiwan.
And this Academy has been established by Most Respected Vajrayana Guru Chokyi Gyetshen Rinpoche, with the advice or instruction that he received from our teacher, late, the Most Venerable Khenchen Appey Rinpoche. So, since this Academy has been established, basically the infrastructure is established, I’ve been in constant communication with Chokyi Gyetshen Rinpoche, and I agreed to be the Honorary Principal for the Academy.
And I also agreed to come to Taiwan once a year, as I usually go there, and from now on, I promise that I will spend some time to teach at the Academy. So, we have signed agreements on these kinds of topics. And also at the same time, we mutually kind of agreed upon the length of the study at this Academy, which is a three year program of studying Buddha Dharma there. And also, when you finish your study session, then at the end of the session, there will be an examination, right. So, after completing three years, then you will get a certificate from the Academy.
And, so, on this occasion, I just basically want to give you my support and the blessings, and also want to encourage students who are registered for this study in this Academy, that what you are going to study is Buddha Dharma of course. So, that means, by studying, then you are actually upholding the teachings of the Buddha and then spread from there. So, in order to uplift Buddha’s teaching, there are three things that we must do, which is first Study, right. So by studying, that means studying, listening to lectures by teachers, and also reading the commentaries and the text itself by yourself. That is the first thing to do. And through this you can also gain, you know, wisdom or knowledge.
Then after that, whatever you have learned, you have heard from the teacher that you have to take upon think on the meaning that you understood on your own investigate, whether they are what they kind of seem to be, you have to really reconfirm your understanding by means of that study. So, once you do that, then whatever the meaning of the particular topic that you understood will remain firmly within yourself.
And then finally, now, you have to put this into practice, practice meaning, then you have to internalize that whole knowledge of what real things are, and through this, then you can also gain knowledge or the wisdom, right. So basically the three kinds of aspects of wisdom that you can gain. So, when you do that, this is what, then you are basically upholding the Buddha Dharma, but also this Buddha Dharma is comprised of two things, that is, one is the teaching itself, which is taught by Buddha for over 40 years.
And finally, now, many of these teachings are available in texts, in book forms and then, so, that is called the āgama of the Buddha, so one aspect of the Buddha’s teaching. And to uphold that kind of teaching, you will have to study and contemplate the real, the other aspect of the Buddha’s teaching is the inner realization of how truly the way things are, basically knowing the truth of everything. So, that is the other aspect of the Buddha’s teaching. And by contemplating and meditating upon it, or actualizing, and making yourself more kind of acquaintance or more familiar with such a kind of inner realization or experience, that you are also upholding the Buddha Dharma, right.
So, this is what the students of the Phags-pa Academy are supposed to be doing, and you all have my, you know, spiritual support, and blessings. And I wish you, all of you a very, very good life and healthy life, as well as successful in your endeavor of studying Buddha Dharma. And so, particularly now, this time, I want to send my heartfelt regards, warm regards to the first batch of Phags-pa Academy students. And I wish you all the best, everyone, students as well as staff and teachers, and may the blessings of the Buddha, Dharma and Sangha be always with you. Thank you! Thank you very much!
Greetings to International Phags-pa Exo-esoteric Buddhist Academy and Vajrayana Guru Chokyi Gyetshen (Lung Du Yung Jing Rinpoche) by Geshe Thubten Norbu from Sera Jey Monastic University in South India:
To Venerable Vajrayana Guru Chokyi Gyetshen, as the abbot and the principal of International Phags-pa Exo-esoteric Buddhist Academy, all the masters, lay Buddhists, and believers:(wish you all) Tashi Delek (blessings and good luck), Amitabha!
I am glad to be invited by the Buddhist Academy today to lecture on the relevant course of Bodhicitta and Correct View of Emptiness. It is very auspicious and a great honor.I here also rejoice and praise the founder of International Phags-pa Exo-esoteric Buddhist Academy, Venerable Vajrayana Guru Chokyi Gyetshen, who is also well-known as Lung Du Yung Jing Rinpoche in the Buddhist community in Taiwan.
The Rinpoche followed the wish and instructions of compassionate Khenpo Abbey Rinpoche to establish this auspicious Buddhist academy, which is also the first Buddhist academy in Taiwan to be able to learn the complete and sequential Exoteric-esoteric Dharma! I am very glad to rejoice and praise it!
Definitely, the establishment of such a Buddhist academy with pure heritage is also supported by Khenpo Ngawang Jorden Rinpoche who is the principal of International Buddhist Academyand who serves as an honorary principal of International Phags-pa Exo-esoteric Buddhist Academy as well.
Therefore, I sincerely send my best wishes to compassionate Vajrayana Guru Chokyi Gyetshen and the International Phags-pa Exo-esoteric Buddhist Academy that will nurture numerous monks and talents who will carry on the Dharma in the future as well as all sentient beings with predestined destinies can all receive the true benefits of Buddhism. May everything is blessed with auspiciousness. Thank you.
Greetings to International Phags-pa Exo-esoteric Buddhist Academy and Vajrayana Guru Chokyi Gyetshen (Lung Du Yung Jing Rinpoche) by Khenpo Sonam Senghe Rinpoche from Dzongsar Institute in North India:
It is an honor for me to be here today at the Taichung Buddhist Association, which was established by Chokyi Gyetshen Rinpoche at the behest of His Holiness Khenpo Abbey Rinpoche’s wishes. In the meanwhile,I would like to extend my greetings to all the devotees, of the Buddhist Academy related to His Holiness Khenpo Abbey Rinpoche, from all over the world. Tashi Delek (blessings and good luck)!
I would also like to thank all the believers who follow Chokyi Gyetshen Rinpoche.Because of the Rinpoche’s great vows and all believers’ sustainable offerings, such an extraordinaryBuddhist Academy can be successfully established.
As Vasubandhu said, “There are two types of orthodox Dharma ofthe World-Honored One,which are divided into Teachings and Realization (the teachings of the Buddha and the realization of the Dharma), and there are two ways to uphold them — explaining and practicing.”Therefore, the Buddhist Academy with Chokyi Gyetshen Rinpoche’s wish is to uphold orthodox Dharma through diligent explanation and practice by all the devotees.
As far as I am concerned, I have a special predestined relationship with the Buddhist Academy;so I once lectured to the students on Ratnagotravibhaga Mahayanottaratantra sastra under the arrangement of the academy. I also rejoice in this remarkable Buddhist practice.Likewise, to enhance the wisdom and understanding of Buddhism for each beginner, the Buddhist Academy has arranged multiple courses according to Dharma.I will raise the Bodhicitta as best I can and I will immerse myself in the lecture with great diligence to benefit others with the motivation of the Bodhi Mind.
In addition, all the benefits and happiness in the world come from Buddhism.Buddhism can only flourish through the two methods of explanation and practice. Therefore, the Buddhist Academy has been accomplished in both explanation and practice as a result of the great vows of Chokyi Gyetshen Rinpoche, and the unremitting practice and concerted efforts of all the believers, workers, and volunteers.
It is particularly due to the most Venerable Khenpo Abbey Rinpoche’s great wishes and the pure Samaya between Chokyi Gyetshen Rinpoche and all devotees to enable the Buddhist Academy to succeed. I also pray here that based on the great vow of Chokyi Gyetshen Rinpoche, the Exoteric-Esoteric Buddhist Academy, all the followers, its academy-related branches across the globe, and all the workers’ wishes can be successfully fulfilled.Likewise, I wish that the Guru, all the devotees, and merit-givers related to the Buddhist Academy can remarkably succeed with all self-vows in listening, contemplation, and practice to cut off evil and cultivate good deeds. May the Buddhist fulfillment succeed without obstacles, and may all Dharmapāla and Eight Groups of Spiritual Beings protect around the clock at all times.Tashi Delek!
Best Wishes to International Phags-pa Exo-esoteric Buddhist Academy and Vajrayana Guru Chokyi Gyetshen Rinpoche (Lung Du Yung Jing Rinpoche) by Khenpo Tsewang Rigzin Rinpoche from Dzongsar Institute in North India:
May Venerable Vajrayana Guru Chokyi Gyetshen Rinpoche, all practitioners, and believers be auspicious and harmonious. Amitabha.
It is a privilege for me to be invited by Vajrayana Guru Chokyi Gyetshen Rinpoche, the abbot of Taiwan Sakya Monastery (International Phags-pa Exo-esoteric Buddhist Academy) to visit the Buddhist Academy and impart the teachings of The Way of the Bodhisattva, Illuminati on of the Sage’s Intent and so on to the students.
Everyone understands better than I do that Taiwan Sakya Monastery (International Phags-pa Exo-esoteric Buddhist Academy) was founded by Vajrayana Guru Chokyi Gyetshen Rinpoche based on the guidance of Khenpo Abbey Rinpoche. Here, I greatly rejoice over this program as well.
As we all know that Khenpo Abbey Rinpoche dedicated his life to two things: the first was practicing and the second was preaching. As a disciple of Khenpo Abbey Rinpoche, we must listen, contemplate, and practice. We need students who carry out listening, thinking, and practicing. And we also need students with wisdom and students with compassion. Accordingly, I encourage all of you to engage in learning more.
Learning is crucial to the genuine path of Buddhist practice, and it matters a lot. Thus, I sincerely hope that Taiwan Sakya Monastery (International Phags-pa Exo-esoteric Buddhist Academy) can serve as a sanctuary for listening, contemplation, and cultivation, or a consecrated ground for our culture of wisdom and compassion, which is the right way to go. I encourage all to devote themselves to learning as it is of paramount importance. In conclusion, I wish all of you the best. Thank you. Amitabha.
Best Wishes to International Phags-pa Exo-esoteric Buddhist Academy and Vajrayana Guru Chokyi Gyetshen Rinpoche (Lung Du Yung Jing Rinpoche) by Vajrayana Guru Thubten Gyatso Rinpoche:
I am grateful, and rejoice today to come to the Buddhist Academy to lecture on the Buddhist course: Introduction to the Middle Way. The International Phags-pa Exo-esoteric Buddhist Academy was established by the most venerable Vajrayana Guru, Chokyi Gyetshen Rinpoche, in accordance with the guidance of the compassionate Khenpo Abbey Rinpoche.
It is auspicious that International Phags-pa Exo-esoteric Buddhist Academy, the monastery, and the other Buddhist associations in various places are named Phags Pa after His Holiness. His Holiness Phags Pa was highly prestigious not only in Tibet, but also in Mongolia, Nepal, and beyond. May the immaculate lineage of the Sakya Sect flourish all over the world. Besides, that will be conducive if the books written by Dragpa Gyaltsen Rinpoche on Pramana and Madhyamaka can be translated into Chinese.
Finally, I would again like to send my best wishes to Venerable Vajrayana Guru Chokyi Gyetshen Rinpoche as well as the International Phags-pa Exo-esoteric Buddhist Academy. And I also wish all the practitioners and devotees, who are predestined to receive the true benefits of Buddha dharma, and what they have practiced will integrate into their hearts, into their Buddhist practice. May all obstacles be dispelled in everyone’s Buddhist practice. And I wish you all auspiciousness.
The wishes and blessings to Vajrayana Guru Chokyi Gyetshen(the Guru Lung Du) and the Taiwan Sakya Monastery from the throne holder of the Dzongpa tradition of Sakya, His Eminence Gongkar Dorje Denpa Rinpoche:
Tashi Delek!
Firstly, I extend my blessings to Guru Chokyi Gyetshen. Previously, Sakya Trizin, Chogye Trichen Rinpoche, and Khenchen Appey Rinpoche have also offered Their blessings. Today, I have personally visited (the Taiwan Sakya Monastery), and the construction of the monastery is very magnificent! Here, I would like to say, "Thank you very much!" to the Guru and all the benefactors. Although the Guru led the construction of this monastery, it is also essential to thank all the benefactors for their support. Thank you very much!
The completion of the monastery is not the end; there is a need for teachings on listening, contemplation, and meditation within the monastery, which is crucial. Establishing courses on listening, contemplation, and meditation requires excellent teachers with listening and contemplation experience in the Dharma scriptures and lectures, with experience in the practices of tantric rituals and mudras, as well as with practical experience in the Buddha Dharma, which is also crucial.
With courses on listening, contemplation, and meditation in the monastery, the meaning of building a monastery can then be perfectly completed, being able to benefit everyone. Especially the origin of constructing the monastery is to fulfill the aspiration of Guru Khenchen Appey Rinpoche. I hope this aspiration can be fulfilled. Following the Guru’s instructions to complete accordingly accumulates His own vast merits and receives the blessings of accomplishment.
Currently, the monastery is not entirely completed, and here, I pray for the smooth completion of the monastery and in the future, many eminent monks and virtuous people will be able to turn the Dharma wheel here constantly. I express gratitude to the Guru, all the benefactors, and the disciples of the Guru.
Tashi Delek!

At the same time, I am also invited to serve as an educational advisor to the Phags-pa Exo-esoteric Buddhist Academy. I am delighted to be able to offer some contribution to Buddhist education.
The Buddhist academy was founded by Chokyi Gyetshen Rinpoche following the instructions of the esteemed Khenpo Appey Rinpoche. This is a significant milestone in the history of Buddhism in Taiwan.
